About This Call
Smaller Footprints is the annual juried exhibition for WEAD, an international artists organization that focuses on ecological and social justice issues. This exhibition showcases work reflecting climate change and its vital impacts on water, food, health, social justice, and species loss from women's unique perspectives. In keeping with the smaller footprints concept, work is limited to a maximum of 2 feet in any dimension.
The exhibition is open to all women who are current WEAD members. Non-members are welcome to join WEAD online at www.weadartists.org, and new members become immediately eligible. There is no entry fee. Accepted media includes 2D and 3D work (maximum 2 feet in any dimension), video (maximum 2-minute sample), and community engagement work (images and/or video). Artists will ship work with pre-paid return shipping labels or deliver and pick up their work. Accepted work must be delivered ready for installation, including being wired if appropriate.
The exhibition runs January 28 - March 27, 2016 at MOAH:CEDAR, 44845 Cedar Ave, Lancaster, California. Artist notification is December 5, 2015. Work is due to MOAH January 10-16, 2016, with pick-up dates April 3-9, 2016. Jurors include Robert Benitez (Museum Education Specialist & MOAH:CEDAR Coordinator), Susan Leibovitz Steinman (WEAD Co-Founder & Magazine Editor), and Linda Weintraub (Curator, Educator, Artist, Author). Additionally, WEAD members have the opportunity to apply for a one-month artist residency at MOAH with a $1500 stipend and free housing.
