Small Works Show 2024

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society invites submissions for the Small Works Show 2024. This exhibition will be held both online and in person at the gallery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, from September 7-28, with a show opening reception on September 28 (time to be announced).

Submit 1-3 pieces priced at or below $200, with no dimension exceeding 12 inches on the longest side (excluding mat and frame). All 2D media are acceptable, including watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, collage, mixed media, photography, and more. Work must be completed within the last 10 years and must be original work not copied from copyrighted material, painted by another, or created under direct guidance or from tutorials. Work may have been completed in a class or workshop using only the artist's own reference material. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of professional artists for acceptance. Notification of acceptance will be sent on August 24.

Drop-off and shipping dates are August 24 - September 5 (Thursdays & Fridays 10am-4pm, Saturdays 10am-3pm). If shipping, provide tracking information to [email protected]. Pieces received late will not be hung. Pick-up is Thursday, October 3, 10am-4pm. Return shipping window is September 28 - October 19. Entry fee is $10 for non-members, $5 for members (use coupon code riwsmember at checkout). Media fee is $10. If work is sold, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale. Work must be professionally framed or presented, with framed work under glass/Plexiglas or varnished. Paintings on canvas or wood do not need to be framed but should have clean, professionally finished sides. Open to all artists in the United States.
