Small Works Show

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society invites submissions for the Small Works Show, open to all 2D media from artists in the United States. Submit 1-3 pieces priced at or below $300, with no dimension exceeding 30 inches on the longest side (including frame). Work must have been completed within the last 10 years and may not be copied from copyrighted material, painted by another artist, created under direct guidance of another, or created by following a tutorial. Work may have been done in a class or workshop using only the artist's own reference material.

Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, collage, mixed media, monotype, photography, and egg tempera on any 2D surface. Work must be presented professionally with no broken or damaged frames. Framed work must be under glass or Plexiglas. Canvas or wood paintings do not require framing but should have clean, professionally finished sides. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of professional artists for acceptance. Notification of acceptance is August 18th. The exhibition runs September 2-22, with drop-off/shipping dates August 18-31 (Thursdays & Fridays 10am-4pm, Saturdays 10am-3pm). The show will be held both online and in person at the gallery in Pawtucket. Pick-up or return shipping dates are September 23-October 21. Entry fee is $10 for non-members, $5 for members.
