Small Works on Paper (SWOP) 2023

Small Works on Paper (SWOP) is an annual, juried art exhibition sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council featuring the artwork of Arkansas Artist Registry members. The 2023 exhibition will tour nine locations across Arkansas, opening in January at the South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado.

SWOP is open to current members of the Arkansas Artist Registry. The Arkansas Artist Registry is free and open to all visual artists who are 18 years or older and Arkansas residents. Non-members can join online at www.arkansasarts.org. Current Arkansas Arts Council advisory board members, staff of the Arkansas Department of Heritage, Parks and Tourism, or members of their immediate families are not eligible.

Eligible mediums include painting, photography, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, and collage. All artwork must be created on paper and be original work. Dimensions can be any size, but accepted work must be matted or mounted to fit a frame measuring either 18" x 18" or 18" x 24" (H x W or W x H). A maximum of 40 works will be selected by juror Margaret LeJeune, Associate Professor of Photography at Bradley University. Up to $2,000 will be available for juror-selected purchase awards. Artwork selected as a purchase award will be purchased at the price listed by the artist and will become part of the SWOP permanent collection. All proceeds from sales go to the artists; no commissions are taken.

Entry fees are $15 for one digital image, $20 for two images, or $25 for three images. The entry deadline is July 22, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Accepted work is due by November 22, 2022.
