Small Works Holiday Show

Grove Gallery in Downtown Evanston, IL is seeking 2D paintings, drawings, and prints for their December Small Works Holiday Exhibition. The gallery welcomes pen and ink urban sketches, paintings of Evanston, paintings from travels abroad, watercolor paintings, flora and fauna, and abstract interpretations.

Eligible media includes: original oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel paintings; pen and ink, watercolor travel illustrations, collage, and mixed media paintings; charcoal, pastel, graphite, pen and ink, colored pencil, and scratchboard drawings; and hand-pulled prints including screen prints, woodcuts, etchings, drypoint, intaglio, monotypes, monoprints, linoprints, collagraphs, and chine colle. Ineligible prints include giclee, photographic, and ink-jet prints. This call is for 2D media only; sculpture and photography are not accepted. All work must be hand-made, one of a kind, sit flush with the wall, weigh less than 2 pounds, and be in excellent condition. Size limit: 24" on longest side. Price limit: under $1500. Artists must be local and live within a 100-mile radius of Evanston.

Submission deadline: November 15, 2025. No application fee. Three submissions per artist; only one application per artist. High-quality, non-glare images are required (suggested 300 DPI, at least 2000 pixels on longest side, no larger than 4800 pixels). Detail shots showing brush strokes and texture are encouraged. Accepted work must be hand-delivered (not shipped) by Thursday, December 4th, 1 to 6 PM. Exhibition runs December 6-22, 2025, with opening reception Saturday, December 6th, 2 to 5 PM. Jurors: Lisa Degliantoni and Liz Cramer, Directors of Evanston Made. Commission structure: 60% to artist; 40% to gallery.
