Small Works, Big Presents: The Gift of Art 2016

Small Works, Big Presents: The Gift of Art 2016 is a juried competition for artists residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, and Idaho). Artists must be 18 years or older and submit artworks measuring 12 inches or less at their largest dimension (excluding frames, mounts, or display hardware). Miniature works must measure 6 inches or less. Artworks may be of any medium stable enough to display, including watercolors, oil painting, photography, ceramics, mixed media sculpture, fiber arts, encaustics, and jewelry. All work must be original, ready to display, and previously unexhibited in this show. Each piece must be for sale with a suggested price range between $50 and $250.

Artists may submit up to four works for jury consideration. The entry fee is $15 per artist (non-refundable). Awards include Best in Show ($750), First Place Small Work ($250), First Place Miniature Work ($250), Second Place Small Work ($125), Second Place Miniature Work ($125), and People's Choice Award ($400 plus feature article in the Auburn Reporter and artwork featured on the 2017 announcement postcard). Honorary mentions may be selected with no monetary award. A 25% commission will be charged on all works sold during the exhibition, with artists paid within 45 days of the show's close.

Accepted artwork may be hand-delivered to the White River Valley Museum between noon and 4:00pm on October 26-30 and November 2-6, 2016. Shipped works must arrive by 4:00pm on November 16th and include a pre-paid return label. Pickup for hand-delivered works is between 10:00am and 4:00pm, December 19-21, 2016. Jurors include Sarah Dillon Gilmartin (head of Visual Arts, Green River College), DeNae McGee (chair of Arts Commission, City of Auburn), and Julianee Duncan (photographer, Photographic Center Northwest). Accepted artists will be notified by October 25th, 2016.
