About This Call
The White River Valley Museum, in partnership with the City of Auburn, Washington, is seeking submissions for the 7th Annual Small Works, Big Presents: The Gift of Art juried art show and sale. This exhibition and art sale celebrates the diversity of the Pacific Northwest visual arts community by displaying the work of established and emerging artists working in small format in all media and offering an opportunity to purchase fine artwork at affordable prices during the holiday shopping season. The exhibition will run from November 25th through December 20th, 2015 at the White River Valley Museum.
Artists must be currently residing in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, USA) and be 18 years or older. Artworks may be of any medium that is stable enough to display, including watercolors, oil painting, photography, ceramics, mixed media sculpture, fiber arts, encaustics, and jewelry. Artworks must measure 12 inches or less at their largest dimension to qualify as a "Small Work," or 6 inches or less to qualify as a "Miniature Work" (measurements do not include frames, mounts, or display hardware). Artworks measuring larger than 12 inches will not be accepted. Artwork must be entirely the work of the artist and cannot be copied from other artists or publications. Artworks previously exhibited in Small Works, Big Presents shows are not eligible. All artwork must be ready to display and framed or finished appropriately. Each piece must be for sale with a price assigned by the artist; the museum encourages a price range between $50 and $250.
Artists can submit up to four works of art. The submission deadline is October 18th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The submission fee is $15 per artist (non-refundable). Accepted artists will be notified by October 27th, 2015. A 25% commission will be charged on all works sold during the exhibition, and artists will be paid within 45 days of the end of the exhibition. Awards include Best in Show ($750), First Place Small Work ($250), First Place Miniature Work ($250), Second Place Small Work ($125), Second Place Miniature Work ($125), and People's Choice Award ($400 plus feature article in the Auburn Reporter and artwork featured on the 2016 announcement postcard). Honorary mentions may be selected with no monetary award.
