Small Works

Small Works is a juried competition for 2-dimensional paintings of any medium or subject. The exhibition will be hosted by the Mena Art Gallery in Mena, Arkansas, located in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains and National Forest.

Show Dates: September 6–30, 2017. Reception: Saturday, September 9, 6–8 p.m. Entry Deadline: July 25, 2017. Notification of acceptance: July 30–August 5. Entry Fee: $15 for non-members, $10 for members. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. Only electronic entries accepted through the Call for Entries system. Digital images should be a minimum of 1920 pixels at the smallest dimension and a maximum of 5 MB in size. Maximum painting size, including frame: 18 inches. All work must be ready for hanging with wire hangers (no saw tooth hangers). All work must be for sale; a 30% donation to SWA should be factored into the price.

Judge: Daniel Mark Cassity. Prizes: Best in Show - $300; $50 each for Arkansas Artist Award, SWA Animal Art Award, SWA Landscape Art Award, SWA Still Life Art Award, SWA Figurative Art Award; People's Choice Certificate. All entries must be original work created after January 1, 2013 and done without supervision of an instructor, mechanical copy aids, or computer programs. No replicas, photographs, or over-painted photographs accepted. Artists retain copyright to their images; however, accepted images become part of SWA archives and may be used for SWA event promotion. Shipping to and from the gallery is the artist's responsibility. Paintings must be received between August 23–September 1 by UPS, FedEx, or hand delivery. Shipped paintings must contain return labels with bar codes. Insurance is recommended; SouthWest Artists, Inc. assumes no responsibility for loss or damage.
