Open Call for Artists: Sanctuary

Theme: An investigation of place as refuge, retreat, and safety—or the poignant lack thereof. As the year draws to a close, SlipStitch Studio invites artists to explore the idea of Sanctuary, a concept that resonates deeply within our current cultural and environmental climate. This exhibition seeks to examine the multifaceted nature of refuge: the physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual spaces where we seek solace or confront its absence. Submissions are encouraged that investigate the tension between safety and exposure, belonging and isolation, intimacy and inaccessibility. Sanctuary may manifest as an interior space of healing, a sacred natural site under threat, a mental construct of protection, or a critique of the barriers that prevent access to peace and privacy.

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to regional, national and international artists working in all disciplines. All media are welcome that invite immersive or contemplative engagement. Submissions must include an artist statement (250 words max) describing your interpretation of Sanctuary, images or media of recent or related work, and a resume or CV. An optional proposal for new or site-specific work may be included.

Entry Deadline: November 14, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $30.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Work sample requirements: 1-10 images, 0-6 audio files, and 0-6 video files (10 total samples maximum). Exhibition dates: December 2-31, 2025. Jury dates: October 14 - November 16, 2025.
