Slice of Orange

Organized by ValleyArts, this juried photography exhibition is open to NJ artists and NY metropolitan area artists working in two-dimensional photographic media. The Slice of Orange exhibition will be held at the ValleyArts Firehouse Gallery (580 Forest Street, Orange, NJ 07050) from October 23 through November 22 and celebrates the growing artist community in the Valley Arts District of Orange and West Orange. Prominent jurors are arts educator and consultant Mansa Mussa of West Orange, NJ and Daile Kaplan of Swann Auction Galleries in New York City.

Artists are invited to submit original images of settings or subjects in Orange or West Orange. The exhibition aims to showcase arresting facets and impressions of these two communities through photography. Each artist may submit up to three artworks, with maximum dimensions of 36x36 inches including frame. All original artwork must be framed and glazed; still images only. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable), with a $10 discount available for Orange and West Orange residents.

Artwork must be hand-delivered and unpacked at the gallery on Sunday, October 19 (10am-4pm) or Monday, October 20 (2pm-7pm). Mailing artwork is not permitted. Framing must be of professional standard and ready for hanging; unframed works will be rejected. The opening reception is Thursday, October 23, 6-9pm. Artwork pickup is Sunday, November 23 (1pm-4pm) or Monday, November 24 (2pm-7pm). The Best in Show award is $500 cash prize. Artist notification is October 5.
