Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art 2021

Slice is an open theme juried exhibition now in its 9th year, open to artists residing in California. The exhibit showcases art that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Work may be in any medium except video or sound. For 2D work, maximum width is 36 inches. Three-dimensional work has no size restrictions. All work must not exceed 100 lb and must be ready to install. Works on paper are accepted if framed or equipped with hardware for safe display. Accepted work must be original, completed within the past five years, and must not have been previously shown at the Pence Gallery.

Applicants must submit 1-3 images of work along with an artist statement via www.callforentry.org. The entry fee is $30 for Pence members or $35 for non-members. Submissions are due by May 28, 2021 at 9 PM PST. Notification of acceptance will be sent June 10. Accepted work may be hand-delivered June 29-30 between 11:30 AM-4:30 PM, or shipped and insured by the artist by June 30. Shipping expenses are the artist's responsibility. The exhibition runs July 6-August 15, 11:30 AM-5 PM (closed Mondays), with an opening reception Friday, July 9, 6-9 PM (awards at 7:30 PM). Work must be picked up or shipped between August 16-17.

Monetary awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes are $400, $300, and $200, selected by juror Faith McKinnie. The Pence Gallery will insure all artwork while on premises through August 17. Sales are encouraged; the gallery retains a 40% commission on all work sold. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance.
