Slice: A Juried Cross-Section of Regional Art 2018

Slice is an annual juried exhibition now in its 6th year, open to California artists working in all media. The exhibition showcases work that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Wall work must be 3 feet wide maximum, with no size restrictions for three-dimensional work. All work must not exceed 100 pounds and be ready to install. Accepted work should be original and completed within the past five years.

Applicants must submit 1-3 images of their work and pay a $35 entry fee ($30 for Pence members). The juror for 2018 is Rachel Clarke, an artist and professor of new media art at California State University, Sacramento. Merit awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place: $400, $300, and $200 respectively. The exhibition will be displayed in the Main Gallery (1000 sq. ft. with 12-foot ceilings) from June 22 to August 19, 2018, with hours 11:30 AM–5 PM (closed Mondays). A reception with award announcements will be held July 13 from 6-9 PM (awards at 7:30 PM).

Accepted work may be hand-delivered June 17-18 or shipped insured by the artist. Shipping expenses are the artist's responsibility. The Pence Gallery will insure all artwork while on premises through August 24. All work must be picked up by August 24 or shipped unless other arrangements are made. Sales are encouraged; the gallery retains a 40% commission on all work sold. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance.
