Slice 2015

Slice 2015 is an exhibition at Pence Gallery, now in its 4th year, open to all California artists. The exhibit showcases work in all media that is conceptually thoughtful, technically skilled, and representative of contemporary trends in art. Work may be in any medium and of any subject matter, but must be no larger than 3' wide for wall work and must not exceed 50 lb. Accepted work must be original, completed within the past three years, and remain at Pence Gallery during the entire exhibit.

The juror for this year is Shelly Willis, Director of Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. Willis previously worked as their Art in Public Places Coordinator and is currently coordinating the installation of public art at the Sacramento Arena & Entertainment Complex. She received her BA in Business and Art History from California State University, Chico, and is the recipient of two City Manager Commendation Awards. She has taught University courses in public art and is the co-editor of the book Public Art Practice.

Pence Gallery is a nonprofit art gallery established in 1975 whose mission is to educate and inspire the community by exhibiting high caliber art by local and regional artists. The gallery has been designated as the Best Art Gallery in Yolo County three years in a row. This exhibit will be displayed in the Main Gallery, measuring 1000 sq. ft. with 12' ceilings, and runs from July 8 to August 20, 2015. Monetary awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes are $400, $300, and $200 respectively. Entry fee is $40. Applicants must submit 1-3 images.
