About This Call
The Savage Arts Council invites all professional and amateur artists in Minnesota to apply to compete and exhibit their works in the Sixth Annual Savage Juried Art Competition and Show, a celebration of visual arts created in Minnesota. The show is open to the public June 14 – July 19, 2012. $1,225 in prizes will be awarded, including $100 for 1st Prize in each category, $50 for 2nd Prize, $25 for 3rd Prize, $225 for Best in Show, and $125 for the Marion W. Savage People's Choice Award.
Entries of original artwork are accepted in five categories: Oil, Pastels and Drawing, Photography, Three Dimensional (Sculpture, Pottery and Glass), and Water Media (Watercolor and Acrylic). Artwork must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously entered in a Savage Arts Council competition. Each artist may submit up to two pieces. The application deadline is May 30, 2012. Application fees are $30 for one entry or $35 for two entries for Savage residents; $40 for one entry or $45 for two entries for non-Savage residents. Fees include a one-year $20 Savage Arts Council membership. Artists are responsible for delivering and insuring accepted artwork. In-person delivery is June 8-9, 2012 at The Hamilton Community Room. Mailed artwork must arrive in a returnable container with postage-paid return mailer; a $10 handling fee applies. Notification of jury decisions will be emailed June 3, 2012. Artwork pickup is July 21, 2012 at Savage Art Studios. A $10 per day late fee applies for artwork not picked up. The judge is Fred Somers, an internationally recognized painter and teacher.
