About This Call

The Sioux City Art Center's 2024 Biennial is themed "Climate / Change" and is juried by Mia Laufer, curator at the Des Moines Art Center. The exhibition welcomes submissions that investigate these terms from a range of perspectives, including work that addresses changes to the environment and landscape; changes to the cultural or political climate, particularly considering the 2024 election; changes to individual or collective identities; material or personal transformation; and more.

Artists may submit up to 3 artworks in any combination of 2D or 3D media. Work must be original and created between 2022-2024. Submissions must be made via the CaFÉ online form before June 1, 2024, 11:59pm MDT. Images should be .jpg files no larger than 2MB in size. Eligibility is open to artists 18 and older who currently live in Iowa or within 300 miles of Sioux City.

Acceptance notifications will be sent June 15, 2024. Accepted artworks must be delivered by July 15, 2024. The exhibition opens August 1, 2024 with a public reception from 5-7pm and closes January 5, 2025. Artists using electronic equipment to present or display their work must be prepared to supply necessary equipment and troubleshoot any technical problems while the work is on view. Artworks will be available for pickup/return February 1, 2025.
