Simply Watercolor

RIWS Presents: Simply Watercolor, a juried exhibition featuring $1,000 in cash prizes. The show is open to all artists in the United States and will take place physically in the gallery in Pawtucket and online.

Submit 1-3 watercolor entries only. Work must be painted in watercolor on acceptable surfaces including watercolor paper, toned watercolor paper, Yupo and similar synthetic papers, paper coated with water-based varnish and gesso, canvas paper, textured paper, illustration board, watercolor board, or rice paper. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, and watercolor mediums, with water-based ink, watercolor pencils, and water-based iridescent paints or powders permitted up to 20%. Work must have been completed within the last 10 years, may not exceed 48 inches on its longest side (including frame), and must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show. Work must be framed under glass or Plexiglass (Plexiglass required for work larger than 36 inches), with frames no wider than 1.5 inches, and must be wired with no wire or hanger showing when hung.

Entry deadline is October 17, 2025. Drop off/delivery is October 23-November 8 (Thursday & Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday 10am-3pm). Accepted entries will be notified October 23. Exhibition dates are November 15-December 12, with show opening Saturday, November 22 at 1pm. Pickup date is December 12, with return shipping available December 12-January 20. Entry fee is $25 for non-members, $20 for members. Juror is Keiko Tanabe. The Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of sales. Submitted pieces may be used as promotional material by RIWS.
