About This Call
The Silverthorne Performing Arts Center seeks an installation of a whimsical winter-themed display for the 2021-2022 winter season, to be showcased inside the Performing Arts Center in the education corridor and outward-facing window boxes from mid-November 2021 through March 2022. The whimsical winter theme was chosen to uplift community spirit after a long period of closures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A vibrant, lighthearted display that incorporates a winter theme appealing to all ages and evoking cheer is sought.
The education corridor is a high-traffic area with an 8' H x 44' L display area along a 5'6" wide hallway. The finished drywall surface has a hanging system and adjustable ceiling-mounted lighting. Artists can create an installation directly on the walls (such as a mural or interactive display) or propose artwork to hang using the provided system. The exterior-facing window boxes are enclosed display areas with pedestals or other display props available. The lower display box is 38" H x 38" Deep x 64" W with a 34" H x 43" W glass window. The upper display box is 79" H x 38" Deep x 64" W with a 75" H x 43" W glass window. Both areas have adjustable ceiling-mounted lights and power sources available.
The honorarium is $1,200 total, paid 50% upon contract signing and 50% upon installation. Artists must submit 1-3 conceptual renderings and at least one link to examples of work depicting their intended artistic style. Selection criteria include suitability of design for site, aesthetic quality, broad-based interest and appeal for all ages, and quality of previous works. Diversity in content is encouraged; art may be representational or abstract. Eligibility is limited to artists in the Colorado region, as travel reimbursement funds are limited. Entry fee is $10.00.
