About This Call
Showcase Noir is a juried artist market held during the Pittsburgh Jazz Live International Festival on Penn Avenue and Eighth Street in Downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. The event takes place Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. Selected artists receive a 6-foot table and 2 chairs under a sheltered canopy, with overnight security provided.
The goal of Showcase Noir is to emphasize high-quality artwork created by contemporary artists of African descent, including African American, Caribbean, Latino, and Hispanic artists, as well as international artists. All work must be original, designed and crafted by the applicant. Work made from commercial molds, kits, patterns, or other commercial methods is not accepted. No factory-made items or copyrighted designs not owned by the artist are permitted. Artists must be present during the entire event and may not employ commercial agents, dealers, or salespeople to operate their booth. Collaborations and partnerships are permitted if properly disclosed in the application.
Accepted medium categories include: Ceramic, Drawing, Wearable Fiber, Non-wearable Fiber, Glass, Precious Jewelry, Non-precious Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Musical Instruments, Painting, Photography, Printmaking/Graphics, Sculpture, and Wood. The application deadline is May 24, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. There is no application fee. A display fee of $40 is due upon acceptance. Jurors' decisions will be announced on May 24, 2014. A signed application constitutes a commitment to show if selected. Cancellations must be received in writing by June 10, 2014. For questions, contact [email protected].
