Showcase Noir: African American Artist and Designer Market

Showcase Noir is a juried market for contemporary African American artists held during the Pittsburgh Jazz Live International Festival and Three Rivers Arts Festival. The event takes place Saturday, June 2 from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 3 from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Penn Avenue and Eighth Street in Downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. Display space consists of a 6-foot table and 2 chairs under a sheltered canopy. Overnight security is provided.

Accepted work must be original, handmade, and designed and crafted by the applicant. Commercial molds, kits, patterns, factory-made items, and copyrighted designs not owned by the artist are not permitted. No "buy-sell" work is allowed. Artists must be present during the entire event; commercial agents, dealers, or salespeople may not operate the booth. Collaborations are permitted if disclosed in the application. Accepted medium categories include: ceramic, drawing, wearable fiber, non-wearable fiber, glass, precious jewelry, non-precious jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, musical instruments, painting, photography, printmaking/graphics, sculpture, and wood.

Application fee is $0. Display fee of $50 is due upon acceptance. Applicants must submit a completed application, artist biography, and 4 digital images of their work. All entries are juried by the Showcase Noir Committee based on quality, originality, and craftsmanship. Jurors' decisions will be announced May 4, 2012.
