Showcase: Monochrome

R Gallery invites artists to submit original artwork for the "Monochrome" exhibition to be held at R Gallery in downtown Boulder, Colorado. Monochrome is defined as involving or producing visual images in a single color or in varying tones of a single color (such as gray). By limiting the visual palette to one color, monochromatic artwork explores shades and gradients, composition and line and can range from hyperrealism to nuanced subtlety and abstraction. Artwork should be primarily monochromatic with some room for creative interpretation. This call is open to work in all mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media.

The exhibition runs February 4 through March 15, 2020. Eligibility is limited to Colorado residents. All entries must be of original design and personal execution. Submit 3-8 images of your work. It is best to submit pieces less than 30" wide, including frame or case; only a few spots are available for pieces up to 48" wide. You may submit multiple images, however normally only one piece from each selected artist will be selected. If submitting fewer than three artworks, fill remaining required entries with duplicate images.

Entry fee is $35.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Accepted works must arrive by February 2, 2020. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. R Gallery handles all sales and charges a 50% commission. Work will be returned by March 30, 2020 unless otherwise agreed upon. A prepaid return label must be provided if sending work by carrier. Notification of acceptance: January 22, 2020. Artists' reception: Friday, February 7, 2020, 6-8pm. Art pickup: March 17-22, 2020.
