Show Off! Annual National Exhibition

The Virginia Beach Art Center presents Show Off!, a nation-wide annual exhibition giving artists an opportunity to submit their best pieces without thematic restrictions. Artists aged 18 and older from the United States and US territories are invited to participate. All 2D and 3D media are welcome (no video or audio artwork). The exhibition runs March 3 - April 2, 2023, with an opening reception on March 3, 6-8 pm. The awards presentation livestream will be held March 3 at 7 pm on the Virginia Beach Art Center Facebook page.

Artists may submit up to three original artworks produced within the last five years and not previously exhibited at the Virginia Beach Art Center. Work must be appropriate for all viewers and must remain on the premises for the duration of the exhibition. A short interpretative statement (approximately 50-75 words) must accompany each artwork. The non-refundable entry fee is $35 for up to three works. Works cannot exceed 40 pounds; 2D works may not exceed 50" wide including frame; free-standing 3D works may not exceed 36" in length or width. All artworks must be for sale, with the artist receiving 65% commission and the gallery retaining 35%.

Prize money totals $2,000: Best in Show ($700), Award of Excellence ($500), Award of Merit ($250), People's Choice ($150), and four Honorable Mentions ($100 each). The juror is Lloyd DeWitt, Irene Leache Curator of European Art and Chief Curator at the Chrysler Museum of Art. Notifications will be sent February 15. Shipped works must be received February 23-26; hand-delivered works February 25-27 by arrangement; local drop-off February 28.
