About This Call
Shorewood Hub presents FRESH 40 is an inaugural art exhibition and sale featuring 40 new and established artists from Southeast Wisconsin. Dominion Properties, in collaboration with Racine Art Museum and ArtRoot, is organizing this event to select artwork for Hotel Verdant, opening summer 2023, and to discover artists for future projects. The exhibition will showcase five original works per artist, with up to twelve purchase awards. Purchased artwork will be placed in Shorewood Hub at 3970 North Oakland Avenue, Shorewood, WI. Artists receive 60% of the retail sale price; 40% benefits Shorewood SEED Foundation, Rotary Club of Milwaukee, or defers coordination and setup expenses.
All work must be original, for sale, and valued at $500.00 retail or above. Work must be completed after January 1, 2020. Digital submissions require five JPEG or JPG files under 5MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Two-dimensional work on paper must be framed, glazed, and wired for hanging (minimum 9" x 12" unframed). Acrylic or oil paintings and collages must be stretched, framed, and wired for hanging (minimum 9" x 12" unframed). Sculptures must be at least 12" high. All work must fit through a standard 7' high door. Jewelry, clothing, fiber art, glass, and merchandising items are not accepted. Work must not have been created under an instructor. Participants must be 18 years old or older and reside in SE Wisconsin (Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha Counties). Entry fee is $50.00 and non-refundable.
Entry deadline is April 7, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified by email on April 12, 2023. Delivery is May 25-26, 2023. The exhibition runs June 2-4, 2023, with an opening reception on June 2 at 6:00-9:00 PM, community open houses on June 3 and 4, and artist pickup on June 4 at 6:00-8:00 PM. Checks for sold work will be issued within ten business days of the exhibition conclusion.
