About This Call
The Tubac Center of the Arts presents Shock of the New West, an exhibition that seeks to blend current trends in contemporary art and western themes. Artists are encouraged to imagine traditional western themes in creative ways and to enter work which is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract.
Work must have been completed within the last 24 months and cannot have been previously displayed at TCA. All work must be the original creation of the artist. Giclee reproductions are not permitted. Entries must be original, entirely the work of the artist, and cannot have been previously shown at TCA. Up to 3 works may be entered for consideration. Entry fee is $35 for the first image and $3 for each additional image. TCA Members receive a $5 discount with discount code HOWDY22.
All artwork must arrive in a condition ready to professionally display or wired to hang. If framed, work must be suitably matted (white, black or neutral colors preferred), simply framed, and firmly wired. No sawtooth hangers. All work must be for sale. TCA will retain a 40% commission. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA. Unsold work will be shipped back to the artist after the close of the exhibition. Artists must provide a prepaid barcoded shipping label for the return of their artwork. Art may not be removed from the exhibit prior to the close of the exhibition on April 3, 2022.
Jury Date: January 6-16, 2022. Artist Notification: Week of January 17, 2022. Shipped art due: February 18, 2022. Hand-delivered art due: February 21, 2022. Exhibition Opening: February 25, 2022 (Opening Reception 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). Exhibition Dates: February 25 - April 3, 2022. Pick up of unsold art: Monday, April 4, 2022. Shipped art will be returned the following week.
Awards: Best of Show $800, Award of Excellence $500, Award of Merit $300, Juror's Award $200, Honorable Mention $100. Juror: William Martin, internationally recognized artist. Applications are limited to the first 149 applicants.
