About This Call
Since 2002, the City of Sheridan has invited artists both in and out of state to participate in its public arts program. The city has acquired 59 permanent sculptures for parks and downtown areas. Selected sculptures must be delivered to Sheridan between May 1st and June 1st, 2014, and will be on display from June 1st, 2014 through May 15th, 2015.
Submit 1-6 images of your work. You may submit more than one piece. Selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium per piece. All entries will be considered for the City of Sheridan's Best On-Loan Sculpture Award and the People's Choice Award, each with a $250 cash prize. Sculptures must be sufficiently durable with a minimum height of 16 inches and suitable for outdoor display. Fragile, dangerous, or inappropriate works will not be accepted.
Accepted artists will be invited to attend the opening of the Big West Arts Festival at Sheridan College on August 1, 2014, and will be recognized at the event. The SPAC will provide a booth during the festival for artists to display and sell small works with no commission taken on sales. Two nights of accommodations will be provided. As part of the loan agreement, the SPAC will actively market your work while on display. If your sculpture is sold, the SPAC commission is 25%. Selections will be made by February 28, 2014.
