About This Call
The Sheldon Jackson Museum is accepting applications for Solo Artist Exhibitions. Open to all resident Alaska Native visual artists. Artists may use existing work in their application but are strongly encouraged to develop new work for this opportunity.
Applications must include: 10 high quality digital images (JPEG files, under 5 MB each) with the option to submit up to 5 video files (under 100 MB); a cover sheet with artist's name, address, and detailed list of submitted work including title, medium, dimensions, and date of creation; an artist's resume listing exhibition history; and a letter of intent detailing the proposed exhibition. Applications will be reviewed by a committee made up of museum staff and professional artists, based primarily on the quality of work presented, the artist's professional activity record, and their exhibition proposal.
Two artists will be selected for solo exhibitions in the temporary gallery space, running from January through mid-April of 2021 and January through mid-April of 2022. Selected artists will be announced in December 2019. Upon acceptance, the artist is responsible for transporting and insuring artwork during shipment, providing exhibit labels, artist statement, price list or insurance values, and a high quality electronic file for publicity. The museum will handle installation, publicity, opening reception, and insurance of artwork while on premises and during return shipment. The museum takes no commission on gallery sales.
