About This Call

Sheets is a national juried exhibition featuring paper arts open to all artists living in the United States. The exhibition accepts 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine paper crafts that incorporate any additional medium, as long as the finished piece is composed of at least 60% paper elements. This may include book arts, collage, sculpture, assemblage, and 2D mixed media. Paintings, drawings, and prints simply composed on paper are not considered unless the paper has a unique handmade component. Work must have been produced within the last two years and cannot exceed 48 inches in its longest dimension or weigh more than 40 pounds. All styles and aesthetics are considered, and content should be appropriate for all viewers.

The exhibition will be juried by Clay McGlamory and curated by d'Art Center Staff. The d'Art Center is Norfolk's thirty-year-old art center located in the NEON district, featuring working professional artist studios and a variety of exhibitions and programming open to the public. The exhibition runs from Saturday, June 15th through Saturday, July 13th, 2019, with a reception on Thursday, June 20th from 5:30-7:30pm. Artists will be notified by email by 5pm on Friday, May 31st, 2019. Accepted works must arrive by Thursday, June 11th, 2019.

The entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 artworks. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). A 60/40 commission split applies to sales (60% artist, 40% d'Art Center), not including awards. All 2D works must be equipped with hanging hardware. All 3D works requiring presentation other than standard pedestals must include those displays. Works requiring special installation must include clear instructions, and complicated specialized installations must be installed by the artist. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during exhibition; artists are strongly recommended to insure their works. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. Works not picked up within one month of the exhibition's end become property of the d'Art Center.
