Shapes of Influence 2023

Shapes of Influence 2023 is a juried exhibition showcasing contemporary ceramics. The Springfield Art Association's M. G. Nelson Family Gallery offers nearly 1,400 square feet of exhibition space in Springfield, Illinois. Cash prizes of $500, $300, and $200 will be awarded. The exhibition runs from April 7 to April 29, 2023, with an opening reception on April 7 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The call is open to all artists living in the United States working in ceramics who are 18 years of age or older. Accepted media includes contemporary ceramics, functional or sculptural works, mixed media (at least 50% clay), and time-based media related to ceramic processes or clay. Artists may submit up to three different pieces, with one image per piece. The entry fee is $35 (members of the Springfield Art Association pay $25). Accepted work must be received between March 18 and March 31, 2023. Artwork must be shipped via UPS, FedEx, or USPS in a sturdy, reusable container with prepaid return shipping charges included. Hand-delivered work must arrive during office hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All artwork is insured while in the possession of the SAA; artists are responsible for insurance on inbound and outbound shipping. Works need not be for sale; however, the Springfield Art Association will retain a 35% commission on any work sold during the exhibition. The juror is Jennifer Holt, a ceramic artist and Assistant Professor of Art at Millikin University. Notification of acceptance will be sent on March 1, 2023.
