About This Call
The Shape of Community sculpture series is a citywide, temporary sculpture exhibition featuring large-scale works of art in prominent public spaces throughout O'Fallon, Missouri. Selected sculptures will be loaned by artists for 18-22 months and displayed in the city's parks and other communal public spaces. Artists will receive a $4,000 stipend for the loan, which must cover all related costs including installation materials, travel costs for delivery and pick-up, and insurance fees. Viewers will be invited to vote for their favorite sculptures from the collection and the top voted artists will be recognized.
Artists may submit up to 3 works with no more than 10 images per work. Selected artists must deliver their sculpture to the site on pre-determined dates, provide installation instructions and hardware, insure the artwork, and transport it from the site at the exhibition's end. The City will create concrete pads for display if needed, install the work according to artist instructions, provide liability insurance and signage, and de-install work at the series' close.
Entries must weigh no more than 10,000 lbs, cannot exceed 15' tall, and must fit within concrete pads measuring 4'x4' and 6'x6'. Works must be suitable for long-term outdoor display, maintenance-free, safe for public interaction including children, and able to be securely anchored to concrete pads. Most sites will not have available electricity. Ten works of art and up to four alternatives will be selected, with no more than one work per artist.
