SHAME

Hera Gallery presents SHAME, a juried exhibition exploring shame in its many dimensions. Juried by Anna Dempsey, Professor of Art History at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, the exhibition attempts to lift the veils of submission and silence by examining how shame relates to power and oppression, the dangers of shamelessness, cultural differences in shame, and the antidote to shame.

The exhibition is open to works of any medium including performance and installation. 3D works are limited to 100 lbs and must fit through a 5'10" x 6'8" door. 2D works must also fit through the same door. Entry fee is $35.00. Artists may submit 1-3 total work samples, which can include images, audio, or video (up to 3 of each type). Exhibition dates are April 6 - May 4, 2019, with an opening reception on April 6, 2019 from 6-8 PM. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 27, 2019.

Accepted artists must deliver artwork to the gallery by March 30, 2019. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must include prepaid return shipping labels. Hera Gallery retains a 30% sales commission on any sold work. Artists are responsible for their own insurance; the gallery assumes no responsibility for damage, loss, or theft. The gallery reserves the right to photograph work for publicity and use artist names, likenesses, and personal information in exhibition materials.
