Shadow

Arts Benicia, a non-profit art center in Benicia, CA, invites artists to submit works in which shadow plays a dominant role. The exhibition runs September 23 – October 29, 2023. All 2D and 3D media are accepted, including video files. 2D work may not exceed 36" in width or 72" in height, including the frame. 3D work may not exceed a 36" x 36" footprint. There is a 35-pound weight limit for any hanging work, and floor weight for 3D work must not exceed 300 lbs.

Entry deadline is July 18, 2023 at 10:59 PM PDT. Entry fee is $35 for non-members or $25 for current Arts Benicia members for one artwork; an additional $5 fee is required for each additional entry, up to a maximum of 6 artworks per application. Artists may submit up to 6 images, audio files, or video files. Jurying will take place July 19–29, and artists will be notified by August 1. Shipped artwork must be received by September 8; hand-delivered work is accepted September 7-8, 1–4 pm. In-person artwork pick-up is October 30-31, 1–4 pm, with shipped artwork return also October 30-31. The juror is Renny Pritikin.

Artworks are insured while at the gallery, which includes a security alarm system and security camera system. Arts Benicia has a history of selling artworks at exhibitions; artists receive 60% of sales proceeds, with Arts Benicia receiving 40%. Entry fees are not refundable.
