Shades of Pastel

Shades of Pastel is an exhibition open to artists 18 or older residing in the United States and Canada. Original artwork only is accepted. All paintings must be the artist's own original work and at least 80% soft pastels (no oil pastels). Accepted work must have been completed within the last three years and may not have been shown in a previous Shades of Pastel exhibition. Maximum size of accepted work is no more than 36" on the longest dimension, including frame. All manner of subject and style are eligible. Works created in workshops or under supervision of instructors are not eligible.

Entry fees are $45 for 3 images for Maryland Pastel Society Members, with an additional $10 per image, up to 5 images total. Non-Members pay $55 for 3 images, with an additional $10 per image, up to 5 images total. Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files only. Images should be at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to include only the artwork itself without mat, frame, or background. Ensure images are oriented correctly and use the sRGB color profile for best results. Paintings delivered to the exhibit must be identical to the accepted digital image.

The entry deadline is August 15, 2025. Entry fees are not refundable and must be submitted and paid by the deadline. After submission and payment, you may log back in to review your entry, edit artist and image information, and add or substitute images until the deadline. Entries cannot be accepted or changed after the deadline, and incomplete entries will be disqualified.
