SFMOMA Artists Gallery - Artists Review

The SFMOMA Artists Gallery exhibits artists of established ability who live in the Bay Area and Northern California, providing a source of revenue for the artist and exposure of their work through the Gallery's exhibition, sales, and rental programs. The Gallery's inventory focuses on original painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, new media, and sculpture, made available for sale or rental to the museum membership and the public. Proceeds from rentals and sales benefit the programs of the SFMOMA Artists Gallery, which supports both the Museum and regional artists.

Eligible artists must live full time within the greater Bay Area and Northern California. Artwork submitted must be created within the last two to three years and must be well constructed and appropriate for the Gallery's rental program. Work needs to withstand frequent handling and movement. Fragile work or pieces requiring more than standard hanging or placement will not be accepted. All framed pieces require plexi-glass, and strip frames may be required for paintings with fragile surfaces. Artists are juried by the gallery director and staff based on the potential of their work in the gallery and the quality of their art.

Applications are accepted online only from October 1 through November 30, 2011. Submission materials include twelve digital images and a combined artist statement/bio including solo and group exhibitions within the last ten years. Supporting art and media reviews are welcome. The entry fee is $40.00. Artists who have been accepted will be contacted by the Gallery. All submissions will be reviewed and artists will be notified within six months of the closing date.
