SFMOMA 2026 SECA Art Award

SFMOMA invites eligible artists to apply for the 2026 SECA Art Award. After accepting artist nominations from SECA members and the wider Bay Area arts community, applications are open to a wide selection of eligible artists. Applications must be received by December 1, 2025.

The 2026 SECA Art Award curators will review each application and select 16 finalists. These finalists will host the curators and SECA members to their studios in early 2026, prior to a final decision awarding three artists with the 2026 SECA Art Award. The awardees must participate in an exhibition at SFMOMA, opening at the end of 2026, and an accompanying publication.

Applications must include an artist statement, bio, CV, and between 7 and 12 images, audio, or video files representing your work. Artists must work in the Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma counties) and be available for local studio visits. Artists must not yet have received substantial recognition by a major institution and must be out of school by the time of award announcement in May 2026. SECA members, SFMOMA employees and their relatives, and previous SECA award recipients are not eligible.
