About This Call

Sequence at Touchstone Gallery invites artists and artist teams to submit works that are created with, or influenced by, technology. Artists may submit film, video, video games, digital works, physical works created from digital processes, sound, light, time-based pieces, performance pieces, and more. This exhibition welcomes art created with, in part by, or inspired by any digital technology.

Due to the varied nature of media expected, the exhibition will include a physical gallery show, a series of screenings and performances, and a virtual online exhibition. Applicants must share how technology impacts and influences their submitted work in a written statement. Each application may include entries for up to two works. For video, sound, or other time-based media, applicants should include a link to the full file. If the total experience time exceeds one minute, upload a 30-second clip along with a still image. All submitted images should be high-resolution.

Eligibility requirements: Artwork must be original designs and concepts; fan art and reproductions of existing artwork or copyrighted design will not be accepted. Artwork created using AI that fully relies on uncredited creativity of others (such as Midjourney or DALL-E) will not be accepted; any AI elements must be disclosed. Artwork must have been made within the last five years. All artists must be at least 18 years old. Artwork created with AI must disclose AI use in the application. Physically installed artwork must be delivered ready to hang and must be for sale unless otherwise agreed upon by the gallery. Touchstone Gallery takes a 40% commission on all artwork sold during the exhibition or if the gallery acts as the agent. Artists are responsible for delivery; accepted works must be received by January 8, 2023. Entry fee is $35.00. Exhibition dates: January 12 - February 19, 2023. Jurors include Maleke Glee (Director of Art + Programming, STABLE), Lauren Leving (Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland), Roddy Schrock (Executive Director, Eyebeam), and Caroline Sinders (Machine-learning-design researcher and artist).
