About This Call
4-Day workshop with Jacqueline Mallegni at Willow Pond SLO, Thursday, May 29 - Sunday, June 1, 2025. Cost is $1,116 and includes lunch daily. Applications close on May 14th or when the maximum of 12 attendees is reached.
This workshop retreat on California's Central Coast offers a deep dive into fiber art through collage and materiality. Participants will explore textured paper combined with foraged materials, thread, ink, and dye, incorporating concepts of wabi-sabi and organic visual narrative. The principal area of focus is papermaking with flax fiber for collage. You can use collage panels to express a sense of place from the natural environment or from an idea or story. Inclusions such as thread, photos, decorative paper, plant fiber, ink, plant-based stain, and indigo can be applied for surface embellishment and depth.
The workshop alternates between focused instructional demonstrations and uninterrupted time for art-making. Participants will receive daily process-oriented demonstrations and visual presentations in a collaborative environment and implement new techniques with natural fibers. All skill levels are welcome. For questions, email [email protected].
