Self Expression -- The Artist's Truth

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to this open call exhibition with no theme. All subject matter and styles are welcome. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 total. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Only 2D artwork will be accepted; no reproductions or derivatives of other artists' work are permitted. Artwork must be professionally finished, equipped with stretched wire for hanging (sawtooth hangers not acceptable), and not larger than 48 inches on the longest side or heavier than 45 pounds. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames if presented traditionally.

The exhibition runs June 19 through July 10, 2022. Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 29, 2022. Accepted artwork can be delivered in person on June 10, 2022 (1-5 pm) or shipped to arrive by June 16, 2022. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and insurance. Shipped artwork must include a prepaid return UPS or FedEx label. Awards include First Prize ($450), Second Prize ($250), and Third Prize ($100). One artist will be selected from all accepted artists during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. The gallery retains 30% commission on sales; artists receive 70%. All artwork must remain in the gallery for the full exhibition duration.
