SEEING RED (2025)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork exploring the color red. This is a national call for entries with no restrictions on subject matter or style. Artists are encouraged to interpret how they utilize red in their work—whether it permeates the entire image, appears in small sections, functions as a decorative or structural device, or reveals technical skill and emotional impact. All approaches are welcome, including traditional or non-traditional, representational or abstract, bold or subtle interpretations.

Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography. Submissions must include 3-9 JPEG images (minimum 1200 pixels on longest side, under 5 MB). Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images at $5.00 each. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Maximum dimensions are 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and 50 lbs for paintings; sculptures should not exceed 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames when presented traditionally.

The exhibition runs October 9 - November 6, 2025, at the MVA Gallery in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Artists will be notified of acceptance by August 23, 2025. Accepted artwork must arrive by October 4, 2025. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award featuring a special exhibition, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and a Director's Choice Award of $200. For sales, artists receive 70% of the final sale price; the gallery retains 30%. Artists retain all rights to their work.
