SCWS 2019 National Annual Exhibition

The South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS) invites artists 18 years and older to submit work for its 2019 National Annual Exhibition. This high-caliber juried exhibition draws national participation and will be held at Francis Marion University Place, 142 North Dargan Street, Florence, SC 29506, from November 2–December 20, 2019. The opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on November 2, 2019.

Entry deadline is August 4, 2019. Entry fee is $50 for one entry; SCWS members may enter their first piece free and a second piece for $20. Submissions must be original works executed in watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, etc.) painted within three years of the entry date and not previously displayed in a SCWS Exhibition. Works must be framed and ready for hanging, with maximum dimensions of 48" in either direction including frame, maximum depth of 2¾", and maximum weight of 25 lbs. Frames must be natural wood museum-style, maximum 2¾" wide; black, white, and metal frames are not accepted. Plexiglas/acrylic 1/8" glazing is required for pieces on paper. Only one painting may be accepted from each artist. The juror is Ryan Fox, a watercolor artist and member of the Watercolor Society of North Carolina and Pennsylvania Watercolor Society.

More than $6,000 in cash or merchandise awards will be given to the top 30 award winners, including $1,000 for first place. Accepted artwork will be displayed in the exhibition, and awarded paintings become part of the 2019 statewide traveling show. Artists whose work is selected will receive a complimentary exhibition catalog. If a painting sells, SCWS receives a 30% commission. Notification to artists will be sent by August 20, 2019.
