SCWS 2018 National Annual Exhibition

The South Carolina Watermedia Society (SCWS) invites artists to submit work for its 2018 National Annual Exhibition, a high-caliber juried exhibition held at City Art Gallery, 1224 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC. Open to all artists 18 years or older, the exhibition runs October 6 - November 26, 2018, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on October 6.

Entry deadline is August 4, 2018. Entry fee is $50 for one work; SCWS members may enter their first piece free and a second piece for $20. Works must be original, painted within three years of entry, and executed in watermedia (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, etc.). Collage is acceptable if primarily painted. Maximum size is 48" in either direction including frame, with maximum depth of 2¾" and weight of 25 lbs. All pieces on paper must be glazed with plexiglas/acrylic 1/8" (glass not permitted). Frames must be natural wood, museum style, maximum 2¾" wide; black, white, and metal frames are not accepted. Works must be framed and wired for hanging unless created on canvas with finished edges or gallery wrapped. Mats must be white, off-white, or pale grey.

The juror is Laurie Goldstein Warren, TWSA, WV, NWWS-GMF. More than $6,000 in cash or merchandise awards will be given to the top 30 award winners, including $1,000 for first place. Only one painting per artist may be accepted. Accepted artists receive a complimentary exhibition catalog. A 30% commission to SCWS applies to any artwork sold. Awarded paintings become part of the 2019 state-wide traveling show. Artists who decline to submit accepted work will be ineligible to participate in SCWS exhibitions for three years.
