About This Call
Sculpture Walk Springfield is a temporary outdoor sculpture exhibition in the Springfield Historic District of Jacksonville, Florida, within Henry J. Klutho Park. The third iteration of Sculpture Walk Jax will feature ten large-scale sculptures selected through a juried process. The exhibition runs from October 2017 to October 2019, with a public reception tentatively scheduled for November 4, 2017.
The exhibition is open to artists 18 years of age or older residing in the United States. Sculptors may enter up to three completed works created within the last five years that have not been previously exhibited by Sculpture Walk Jax. Provide two photographic views of each work for a total of six images. Works of any subject and medium are accepted and should be designed to fit on a 4' x 4' x 8" thick concrete slab. All works must be suitable for outdoor installation, capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions and high traffic environments, and installation-ready. Works may include light features, with solar lighting encouraged. Interactive and kinetic works are permitted if they comply with safety requirements. The artist accepts responsibility for loss or damage of the sculpture.
Ten works will be selected for installation. All finalists whose works are installed will receive a $2,000 stipend per sculpture ($1,000 upon delivery and $1,000 upon removal). Up to four purchase awards will be made prior to installation; artists receiving purchase awards will not receive an additional stipend. Works may be sold during the exhibition with a 70/30 commission split (70% to artist, 30% to Sculpture Walk), but must remain on site for the duration of the exhibition. Artists are responsible for shipping and delivering works to and from the installation site and must meet scheduled installation (October 27-28, 2017) and removal (October 18-19, 2019) dates. Entry fee is $25. Application deadline is September 18, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Contact Jenny Hager at [email protected] or 904.588.2187.
