Sculpture Walk Peoria 2020

Sculpture Walk Peoria is the sixth annual juried outdoor sculpture exhibition accepting submissions from local, regional, national, and international artists. The exhibition showcases and sells sculptures while enhancing the cultural environment of Peoria. Sculptures will be placed in highly visible locations along Washington Street in close proximity to the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The Peoria Warehouse District is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Selected artists receive a $2,000 honorarium ($1,500 following the opening on May 16, 2020 and $500 upon removal in April 2021), plus an additional $1,000 People's Choice Award given in October 2020. Artists also receive complimentary hotel accommodations for 2 nights during installation/opening weekend (May 14-15, 2020) with breakfast vouchers, dinner and drinks on May 15, complimentary boxed lunch following the opening, and a concierge to assist with logistics. Complimentary boom truck service is provided for installation on May 15, 2020 and de-installation on April 3, 2021. Selected artists interact directly with the public at the Opening Celebration and Ribbon Cutting on May 16, 2020.

Submissions require artist resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). Entry fee is $25. All sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand outdoor weather and require no maintenance. Sculptures are selected through a juried process with approximately 7 jurors (4 with art/art leadership background and 3 with business/community leadership background). Jury evaluates submissions on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability. Priority is given to newer sculptures. Selected artists are responsible for delivering, installing, and removing their work, with installation required between May 1-15, 2020 and de-installation in April 2021. Sculptures must be bolted to concrete sidewalk on approximately 5 feet x 5 feet pads (limited larger sites available). All sculptures must be for sale with artist-determined pricing; Sculpture Walk Peoria receives a 20% commission on sales. As of 2019, eleven sculptures from previous exhibitions have been sold and placed on permanent display throughout the greater Peoria region.
