Sculpture Walk Peoria

Sculpture Walk Peoria is a biennial, juried, outdoor exhibition for sculptors to showcase and sell their work while enhancing the cultural environment of Peoria. The exhibition runs from May 21, 2022 through March 2024. Sculptures will be placed in highly visible locations along Washington Street in close proximity to the Peoria Riverfront Museum. All sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand outdoor weather and require no maintenance.

Eligibility is open to all artists over 18, with international submissions welcome. A $25 application fee applies per artist. Submissions should include an artist's resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images of each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). One application per artist. Sculptures are selected through a juried process by approximately 7 jurors (4 with art/art leadership background and 3 with business/community leadership background). Submissions are evaluated on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability in the outdoors. Jury will give priority to newer sculptures. The artist must bring the selected sculpture; no substitutions are permitted.

Selected artists receive a $2,500 honorarium ($1,000 following the May 20, 2022 opening, $1,000 in May 2023, and $500 upon removal in March 2024), plus an additional $1,000 People's Choice Award given to one artist in October 2022. Artists also receive complimentary boom truck assistance for installation on May 19, 2022 and de-installation on March 30, 2024, free hotel accommodations for 2 nights during installation/opening weekend with breakfast vouchers, dinner and drinks on May 19, 2022, and a concierge assigned to help with logistics. The sculpture must be for sale, with the artist setting the price. Sculpture Walk Peoria receives a 25% commission on any sales. Installation must occur between May 1-19, 2022, with de-installation in March 2024. Sculpture pads are approximately 5 feet x 5 feet, with a limited number of larger sites available. Sculptures will be bolted to the concrete sidewalk.
