About This Call
The Point is a mixed-use development located at the intersection of Parker Road and Peoria Street in southeast Denver, just north of the Nine Mile Station transit stop. The development will feature residential, retail, entertainment, and commercial uses integrated into an urban context with streetscapes, landscaping, park and plaza spaces, and retail storefronts. A pedestrian and bicycle bridge will span Parker Road, connecting the Nine Mile Station to the Point's retail shops and public spaces.
This call seeks artwork for a series of public art installations along a circulation path from the bridge landing through retail, entertainment, and central gathering areas to the Dartmouth terminus and Main Street retail area. The artwork should create an iconic project identity with significant community draw. Final pieces must be designed as part of a series, be interactive with the public, incorporate both daytime and evening interest with integrated lighting design, be safe to touch, and be designed to be durable, require low maintenance, and be graffiti resistant. All artwork should be contemporary in character.
The total budget for this project is $391,000 to be divided among three independent art locations, with budgets that may not be equal. Work sample requirements: 8-12 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files, for a total of 8-15 samples. Eligibility is open to national applicants.
