Sculpture on the Prairie - St. Charles, IL

Sculpture on the Prairie invites artists to submit original 3-D artwork in any sculpture or craft medium for exhibition on the grounds of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois. The 12-acre campus, located in the Fox River Valley approximately one hour west of Chicago, is ideal for sculptural works. The exhibition runs from May 12, 2022 through April 30, 2024.

Work must be durable and capable of withstanding outdoor elements including heavy winds, rain, and extreme heat. Pieces will be structurally secured to a 3 ft x 3 ft or 3 ft x 4 ft concrete pad with anchor bolts or similar devices and must be maintenance-free for the two-year duration. Weight limit is 300 pounds; height limit is 10 feet. Artwork must not have sharp edges or pose danger to the public. Heavy equipment such as cranes will not be available for installation. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, and de-installing their work. A one-time payment of up to $1,000, depending on distance traveled, will be awarded to each accepted artist to help cover transportation costs.

Eligibility: Artists must be at least 18 years old and reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. Work must not have been previously shown at Fine Line or within 30 miles of the campus. Each artist may submit up to three pieces in one entry. Four images are required per piece (front, back, side view, and base). All work must be for sale. Fine Line charges a 30% sales commission on sold artwork. Insurance is provided from receipt through the end of the show; artist is responsible for transit insurance. Awards totaling $3,750 are available. Jury notification: April 8, 2022. Entry fee: $35.
