About This Call

Sculpture on the Prairie is an outdoor exhibition held on the grounds of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois, approximately one hour west of Chicago. The 12-acre campus in the Fox River Valley provides an ideal setting for sculptural works of art. The exhibition runs May 15 - October 10, 2020, with an opening reception on May 15 from 6 pm - 8 pm. The show is open to the public Monday-Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm.

Artists are invited to submit original 3-D work in any sculpture or craft medium that is durable and can withstand outdoor elements. The exhibition is open to all artists 18 and older who reside in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. Up to three pieces may be submitted per entry, with one entry per artist allowed. All work must be for sale and must not have been previously shown at Fine Line or within 30 miles of the campus. Each accepted artist will receive a $500 honorarium to cover transportation, installation, deinstallation, and incidental expenses. Fine Line will charge a 30% sales commission on any artwork sold during the show.

Work must be structurally secured to a 3 ft x 3 ft or 3 ft x 4 ft concrete pad with anchor bolts or similar devices and must withstand extreme weather conditions while remaining maintenance-free. Weight limit is 300 pounds per piece; height limit is 10 feet. Pieces must not have sharp edges or pose any danger to the public. For each piece entered, three images are required: front, back, and side view. An artist statement limited to 1000 characters must be submitted. Entry fee is $35.00 (non-refundable). Jury notification will be sent on or before April 4, 2020. Awards totaling $800 will be given. Insurance is provided from receipt of work through the end of the show; artists are responsible for transit insurance.
