About This Call
Sculpture On Loan is a 12-month outdoor sculpture exhibition in Carmichael Park, part of the City's Eye for Art Program. Five sculptures will be selected through juried review based on quality, professionalism, diversity, and style. Selected artists will receive a $500 honorarium at placement. An additional $1,000 will be awarded for a public-voted "Brighton's Choice" award. Sculptures may also be purchased by the public or the City; to date, the program has sold ten sculptures located throughout Brighton.
Artists must submit 5-8 images of their work. All sculptures must be available for delivery and installation by January 29, 2024, and will remain on display until December 15, 2024. The artist is responsible for transportation, installation, and providing all necessary tools and equipment. Sculptures will be installed outdoors and exposed to sun, wind, temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Work must be safe for public interaction, especially with children. Maximum weight is 1,000 pounds. Fragile, vulnerable, or inappropriate work will not be considered. Recommended minimum height is 4-5 feet; visual presence is essential. Sculptures will be viewed from all angles and must be properly proportioned for installation on existing pads and pedestals.
