About This Call
The City of Tamarac invites artists nationwide to submit original three-dimensional artwork for Sculpture on Inspiration Way, a public art exhibition on Nob Hill Road. Florida artists are encouraged to apply. The program seeks to enhance quality of life for residents, increase awareness of public art, promote Tamarac as a cultural destination, and provide a showcase for local, regional, and national artists.
Artwork must be durable and suitable for outdoor display in a subtropical climate with intense sun and seasonal heavy rain. Sculptures should be designed to be securely anchored to a concrete pad. Selected artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium per artwork ($1,250 after installation and $1,250 after removal), intended to cover all expenses including travel and property insurance. The City will produce publicity materials and promote the exhibition. A 25% commission on works sold during the exhibition will remain with the City. One $1,000 Cash Award for Best of Show will be awarded. The City has the option to purchase one or more works for its public art collections up to $60,000 total budget.
Applications must include 10 images of work samples and be submitted via CAFÉ software by Friday, April 5, 2019 at 12 Midnight EDT. The Tamarac Public Art Committee will review all complete applications meeting submission guidelines. Selection is based on artistic merit, appropriateness for the site, technical feasibility, durability and maintenance requirements, and diversity of style and media. Final artist selection is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2019. The City will insure each work against damage or theft during the exhibition and provide identification plaques. Contact: [email protected] or [email protected].
