About This Call
Sculpture in the Square is a year-long outdoor exhibition in Old Town Square, Fort Collins, featuring historic buildings and year-round festivals, shopping, and dining. The program aims to expose citizens of Fort Collins to quality art and artists, compensate artists, and promote their talents.
Six sculptures will be selected for the outdoor exhibit, installed on Saturday, April 24th, 2021, and remain for one year. Each selected artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium, and one artist will be awarded a $1,000 People's Choice Award. All artists and a guest are invited to attend a lunch on installation day. If artwork is sold while on loan, the organizers will retain a 10% commission.
The program accepts highly durable and resilient sculptures of any media from artists nationwide. Each sculpture must be at least 4 feet tall and have a metal plate adhered to its base that can fit on a 2' x 2' or 3' x 3' plinth. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces, with 2 images required per sculpture (maximum 6 total images). Installation is mandatory on April 24th, 2021, with the artist or artist representative required to be present. Timeline: Entry deadline 1/31/2021, jurying begins 2/3/2021, artists notified 2/10/2021.
