About This Call
Sculpture in the Square is a year-long outdoor exhibition in Old Town Square, located in the heart of Fort Collins, Colorado amongst historic buildings. The program aims to expose citizens of Fort Collins to quality art and artists, compensate artists well, and help promote their talents.
Six sculptures will be selected for the exhibition, installed on Saturday, April 22, 2023, and remain on display for one year. Each selected artist will receive a $1,000 honorarium plus travel expenses if traveling over 100 miles ($300 additional for 101-500 miles; $600 additional for 500+ miles). A People's Choice award of $1,000 will be given at the end of September 2023. If artwork is sold while on loan, the organization will retain a 10% commission. All artists and a guest are invited to attend a lunch on installation day.
The program accepts highly durable and resilient sculptures of any media that are at least 4 feet tall from artists nationwide. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces. Submissions must include 2 images per sculpture. Each sculpture must have a metal plate adhered to its base that can fit on a 2' x 2' or 3' x 3' plinth. Artist or artist representative must be present for installation on April 22, 2023. Entry deadline is January 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified of acceptance on February 13, 2023.
