About This Call

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas is accepting submissions from sculptors for the Sculpture for All Outdoor Competition and Exhibition. Up to ten works will be selected for a 22-month exhibition on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus and in the SFA Arboretum, one of the largest Azalea gardens in the nation. A stipend of up to $1,000 will be awarded to each of the artists chosen, with additional cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Artists must be 18 years of age or older and reside in the United States. Work must be original and created in the last three years. Sculptures must be three-dimensional, suitable for outdoor installation, able to be structurally secured to a concrete pad, capable of withstanding adverse weather conditions and high traffic areas, and safe for children. Works deemed unsafe, fragile, or otherwise unsuitable will not be considered. Size limitations: no work can exceed 15 feet in height or weigh more than 1,000 pounds. Artists wishing to enter larger pieces with their own installation equipment should contact Jeffie Brewer at [email protected] for authorization prior to submission.

Electronic submission is required via callforentry.org. The non-refundable submission fee is $15 and allows each artist to submit up to three entries. Submissions must include up to three digital photographs in jpeg format detailing alternate views, the title, size, and materials used, an explanatory statement (approximately 100 words) for each sculpture, a short biography (100 words or less in paragraph form), your website URL (if applicable), and your contact information. Entries must be submitted by midnight, January 16, 2017. Sculpture installation is scheduled for February-March 2017, with an evening reception date to be announced.
